Hi!
My name is Bina, I´m a German Woman of Color (yes that is how I identify, no don’t ask me where I’m really from!), feminist and unabashed SJW. I’ve been blogging for ages over at If You Can Read This, but between a major backlash happening in the West and constant white tears over diversity initiatives, this move felt necessary. Much love to the #DiverseBookBloggers family for making me feel brave!
I read widely and I’m trying to read diversely as well: Fiction, non-fiction, academic as well as speculative genres and sequential art. I’m happiest following the tales of awesome feminist women of Color. I’ll be featuring women writers of Color and non-binary people of Color as well as indigenous WoC/NB PoC, at all intersections, only on this blog and will likely include international non-white women’s works as well.
I’m also curating the Diverse Book Bloggers Directory here.
Some of my favorite WoC authors: Audre Lorde, May Ayim, Nnedi Okorafor, Sharon Dodua Otoo, Banana Yoshimoto, Gabby Rivera, Noah Sow, Sara Ahmed, Attica Locke, Arundhati Roy, N.K. Jemisin, Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni, Octavia Butler …
Some of my favorite WoC books: Binti, Sister Outsider, This Bridge Called My Back, The Cutting Season, Poems in Black and White, The Inheritance Trilogy, Juliet Takes A Breath, Deutschland Schwarz Weiß, Kindred …
